Il termine rigenerazione deriva dal latino genus, generis, che significa nascita. La rigenerazione urbana implica dunque la nascita di una nuova forma di urbanità. Poiché l'urbanità è una produzione collettiva, la sua rigenerazione deve essere il risultato di azioni collettive e sforzi condivisi.
This is the starting point of every project developed by Orizzontale, which led this process. Prossima Apertura is the name of the urban regeneration process in the Toscanini neighborhood in Aprilia. Urbanity is the result of the interaction between the built fabric and the social fabric—two interwoven textures. Rehabilitating the built fabric does not necessarily imply the rehabilitation of the social one. When we speak of urban regeneration, we should therefore refer to projects, or processes, that enable the social fabric to flourish.
